11. Strike: Lethal White

Strike: Lethal White viewers saying the same thing about series 4 | HELLO!

So following on from my previous Strike review, as promised here are my thoughts on series 4 which came to a pretty little conclusion on Sunday night.

Now I've been reading a lot of clickbait recently spreading the word that a lot of viewers are baffled by the plot, I feel like that is just a load of tosh to spoil something good. I could only half listen to what was going on due to drama in my own household but I still understood what was going on. As an extension to this, a lot of reviews that I have seen have also mentioned how the plot seemed over complicated and therefore lost a lot of viewers, I partially agree at this but I liked that a lot, the aim of the game was to confuse you as much as the characters so we were in it together, and then the grand reveal. Regardless of where you look though, one thing is always commented on in good spirits is the acting, impeccable.

I really enjoyed this new series, and SPOILER (sort of) I am so glad Robin made the decision she did in regards to her marriage. He was TOXIC and needed to go away, now we just need to come to a final point in her and Strike's relationship as they were clearly meant for each other.

I got real haunted house, spooky vibes from this story. Digging up bones in the middle of the night, breaking into an abandoned building, a brilliant aspect of a crime drama here, truly intriguing. Also the actual story line, although complicated, I won't deny that, with its flashbacks was actually really interesting. For a mere PI the Strike team get some high profile clientele.

I am also really glad we solved the mystery of Charlotte's pregnancy and could finally put a face to Strike's ex. She is just as manipulative as we imagined, and it shows another side of a toxic relationship, Robin and Matt's was mental and seemingly happy, Corm and Charlotte's was seen as ideal and completely perfect and yet very unstable from the inside, we see this when Izzy practically idolises them from the good old days when in reality according to Strike it was hell on earth.

I am actually really sad it's over. I want new episodes NOW. But at least I can now turn to the books for content and what's not shown on telly. I know I've done it back to front and should have done the books first but who cares. I am glad as well due to the increase of episodes. We went from three, to two, and now up to four. This plot probably could have been condensed into three or possibly two, but then we would have missed context so I am torn here, was there too much detail, or just enough? I enjoyed it just the way it was.

Now you may have noticed this review is very late based on my usual standards. My normal day is a Thursday and today is a Sunday. This is down to the fact I went back to the office and don't have as much downtime due to travel and the lark. Life overtook me. Obviously I do tend to pre-write so I can publish on time but with the publish date so close to the final episode I struggled for time so I am really sorry.

I feel like Corm actually took a bit of a backseat this time round, we focused a lot on Robin and her skills and how she can adapt. Her disguises were brilliant, and her reaction to Matt breaking her favourite green dress (a present from Strike) out of jealousy was wickedly convincing and I was hurt and angry on her behalf. That was truly unacceptable. I liked this change though, I feel like we know him a fair bit now but Robin has come into play and we have seen her full potential, next series hopefully there can be a complete balance and we can see them as a complete team where we don't need to switch back and forth between their lives because they are a unit, which let's face it, we are all shipping them.

So for this short review on series 4 of Strike: Lethal White, I give it a nice old 7/10. J.K outdone herself with plot and the team to bring it to life on the screen surpassed this 100%. I hear the 5th book is an absolute cracker so I cannot wait until maybe next year? for it to grace our screens.

I promise next week I will be on time. Until then my friends, stay safe, wear a mask, and be happy.
